We at Philpott Church, believe in the value of children. They are a blessing from God and in that knowledge we aim to love, honour, teach and minister to them. Acknowledging that parents are the primary influencers of children, we commit to walking alongside parents in these formative years.
Children’s ministry at Philpott Church encompasses children from newborns up to Gr. 5.
This year, we are using the curriculum “Jesus, what a Saviour!” by Children Desiring God. This curriculum is taught right from the nursery up through the Gr. 5 children.
Our children are precious to us and therefore we take every precaution to make the classrooms the safest they can be. Last year we implemented the “Plan to Protect” policy. Each volunteer in Children’s Ministry undergoes a rigorous application process which includes police checks, training, references and interviews.
Nursery – newborn to 2 years old – during both services -
- Children must be signed in and out by parents or caregivers
- There is a nursing room for moms who need it
- We maintain a ratio of 1 worker for 3 babies. We have one paid staff who receives all the babies and returns them to their parents. All other workers are screened, trained volunteers under the direction of the paid staff member
- The morning schedule includes gathering time, Bible story time, snack and music each week. The volunteers spread the “essence of Christ” while ministering even to our youngest children.
- The Bible lessons are repeated for 1 month at a time.
Hive - the busy bees in the hive are 2 and 3 year olds - during both services

Parent Workshops
We offer parent workshops to equip parents to disciple their own children. This year we are presenting
“Help!! I’m a parent: How to love your kids in their language”.
This is a class designed for parents who want help in learning how to love and discipline their kids effectively, using a biblical model for developing healthy kids and living well with them.
