The Gathering is starting again September 19th, 2010
The Gathering- WHO, WHAT, WHERE, WHEN, WHY, HOW ?
Who: A large group whose members are generally made up of grad students and early career people between the ages of 25 and 35 (but open to anyone…).
What: Our purpose is to provide a space where people can connect in a real and meaningful way with others who are in a similar life-stage; and to learn something new (see below for current topic) at the same time.
Where: In the chapel (near the kitchen).
When: We meet for about 1 hour after the first service, starting at 11:15 AM.
Why: Large groups are a good place to meet new people, and catch up with friends, and to learn something new.
How: We usually start with a time of hanging out and enjoying snacks, coffee, juice (and some weeks, full potluck lunches). This is usually followed by a brief teaching segment and ends with group discussion.
Current Discussion Topic: What happens “at the end of the world”?
Or as theologians and philosophers call it, eschatology. We have spent a number of months studying the life of the Apostle Paul; we are now going to study passages Paul wrote concerning eschatology from various letters, found in the New Testament of the Bible.
Dr. Stan Porter, President and Dean of McMaster Divinity College, and Professor of New Testament, will be leading most of the discussions.
Thanks for the visit!
